The Redwood Empire Model Railroad show happens this weekend at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds along side the Home and Garden Show. The show opens at noon on Friday and runs until 6:00pm on Sunday.

You can get directions and show details at http://sonomacountyhomeshows.com/RedWoodEmpireTrains.htm.

If you have an interest in model railroading, or just want to relive some memories of a Lionel set at Christmas or an HO set you had when you were a kid, this is the place to be. Most of the local clubs and train enthusiasts will be there operating layouts of all scales.

Coastal Valley Lines will have one of their larger modular layouts in operation featuring HO scale trains and scenes from around Sonoma County.

The Sonoma County Model Railroad Society will also be in attendance and they plan to have an HO scale hands-on switching layout where kids of all ages can try their hand at operating trains in a switch yard.

You will also find a large G scale layout operated by Terry Strom of the Redwood Empire Garden Railway Society.

Our local Lionel and MTH repair technician will be there operating some O scale layouts and answering questions about how to keep your locomotives running.

Trains fascinate young and old and if you would like to learn more about the hobby of model railroading consider stopping by the show this weekend.
